Star Polyps, Glove Polyps, & Xenids

Star Polyps are probably the hardiest soft coral to start with and most of them are able to go into a state of dormancy while your aquarium is having problems. Many of them will surprise you by not opening for weeks, then suddenly opening up again as if there was no issue at all. They come in a myriad of colors, with the most popular being Green Star Polyps, or GSP. Corals from this category are some of the top beginner corals, since you have the ability to isolate them away from slower growing ones due to their encrusting habit. The same can be said of glove polyps, and xenia as well, as long as you have provided enough space for the xenia to grow.
