VIP Registration has a few special treats this year! Introducing the man, the myth, the LEGEND, the one and only #copegod! A full believer in #podlivesmatter, he was also the main engineer in TDO Chroma BOOST, a food used by almost every fish breeder out there - and it makes a great coral food as well, as you will experience in your VIP Gift Bag! Best of all, Reef Nutrition is a FIRM supporter of ALL aquaculture efforts, and will be giving the lucky VIP attendees of ReefSMART 2022 a private instructional DIY on how to culture pods at home! Graduating with honors as a Marine Biologist, Tia Davis has had plenty of field experience as well! She has worked a variety of amazing jobs, from one of the world's largest clownfish hatcheries to her current venture of Reddy Reef, which is a type of live rock meant to solve mineral issues in new tanks. Among her many branches of experience, we asked her to focus on one that has been a taboo subject in the aquarium importation industry for decades - cyanide collection. Tia has traveled the world learning about it, and trying to change it, and this is a subject so important to us, we had to ask her to talk about it. Come learn the telltale signs that your fish may have been subjected to it, the parts of the world that still practice it, and how to avoid fish poisoned this way. Sadly, it is a still a lesson we have to teach!
Although he is better known for his amazing jellyfish breeding at The Jellyfish Warehouse (definitely stop by his booth to learn about just how easy it can be to keep jellyfish as pets) we have asked Travis to show off one of his lesser known skills to us - how to cheaply and easily make your own acrylic aquariums at home! Having been forced into learning to create the systems he needed for some of his more sensitive charges, he is willing to share this skill with you via a DIY with scrap material. Learn how at the expo, apply your new skills at home!
Returning for her fourth year as a Sustainable Reef Educator, we can't get ENOUGH of the gorgeous and brilliant Dr. Em! She became North Carolina's first Certified Aquatic Veterinarian in 2017, already holding a doctorate in veterinary medicine; we hope to always have her as one of our educators. Since she recently opened Oak City Aquatics, a mobile aquatics vet - it looks hopeful! This time around, we have asked Dr. Emanuele to educate us on the professional perspective in veterinary medicine in regards to a very important topic to most hobbyists - QUARRANTINE!
